Grace, a 30-year-old woman, shared her personal story with us. She needs advice and opinions from our readers because her situation is both delicate and desperate. She found out that her husband is very negative about her using menstrual pads during her periods, which has caused a big argument in their once happy family.
Grace always thought she was lucky to have a really nice and loving husband.
Grace, 30, always thought her marriage was perfect. She loved and respected her husband, Paul, who she saw as her “unwavering rock” and admired for his opinions and life experience. But now, she is in shock because of his rude behavior and is seeking advice from others.
Grace wrote, “I’ve never thought I’d face such a tough and offensive situation in my own family, which I believed was a happy one. My husband Paul, 35, has always been a sensible and moderate person. He has a serious job with a lot of responsibility and has always been a role model for almost everyone who knows him. For me, he has always been a loving husband and someone I could trust and rely on.”
She added, “At least, I thought so, because one action of my husband regarding a normal thing has shattered my trust in him and killed my respect for him forever.”
Grace explained, “I used to use tampons for my periods, which I found most comfortable and convenient. But recently, due to serious health issues, my doctor advised me to switch to sanitary pads.”
She continued, “Now I’m using pads, which isn’t a big deal for me. Of course, I’m not used to them, but it’s not a problem at all. However, my husband has shockingly made a big fuss about this seemingly innocent change.”
Grace’s husband started acting in a very rude way, all of a sudden.
Grace talked with Paul about her medical issues, and he seemed understanding and supportive. But she didn’t tell him she would be using pads from then on because she didn’t think it was important.
She was shocked when Paul noticed she was using pads. He complained about her not telling him first and then said he didn’t feel comfortable with her wearing pads in bed. He asked her to sleep somewhere else during her period because he found pads disgusting. He wanted her to use tampons or sleep elsewhere.
Grace laughed it off and continued sleeping in bed with pads, but things got worse. Paul was so uncomfortable that he moved to the couch and complained about Grace forcing him there. Grace told him his compromises were illogical and she couldn’t risk her health by using tampons again.
Now, Paul is still upset with Grace even when she’s not on her period. He says she owes him for making him uncomfortable and ignoring his complaints. Grace is getting angry and thinking of asking him to move out because their relationship has become tense. She wonders if she’s overreacting to his rudeness and asks for advice.
