Caleb was sitting in his office, looking through his company’s annual report on his laptop. Suddenly, a janitor, a woman likely in her late 50s, walked in with cleaning supplies.

“Excuse me, Sir… I’m extremely sorry… I didn’t mean to disturb you. I’ll just mop up the floor in five minutes,” she said as Caleb looked up and experienced the massive shock of his life — The woman standing in front of him bore an uncanny resemblance to his late mother, but it’s impossible!

“Oh my God… it’s unbelievable,” Caleb gasped. “It’s okay… please come in,” he said, his gaze stalking the woman as she marched across the office. “Uh, I don’t think I’ve seen you around before… but your face looks so familiar.

The woman smiled and turned around. “My name is Michelle, Sir. I started working here only recently. This town is quite small… maybe you would’ve seen me somewhere. But I moved here just two weeks ago.”

“I’m Caleb,” he said as his brows furrowed with suspicion. “Michelle, I don’t understand why I get this strange feeling when I see your face… but maybe you’re right,” he added as he reached for his cup of coffee, only to accidentally spill it on his laptop.

Damn… not again!” Caleb leaped back.

“Don’t worry, Sir… I’ll clean it up for you,” Michelle dropped the mop and hurried to Caleb’s table to clean the mess. She rolled up her sleeves and started wiping the laptop with a cloth. That’s when Caleb’s eyes fell on a peculiar scar on her left arm.

“There you go… your laptop is clean!” Michelle said as she turned to Caleb.

“This scar… Ha—how did you get it?” He asked.

Michelle froze, her eyes widening slightly before she composed herself. “Oh, this? It’s an old injury. I don’t really remember how I got it,” she said, her voice trembling slightly.

Caleb’s mind raced back to his childhood. His mother had a similar scar, one she got from a kitchen accident. The resemblance was uncanny. “Michelle, this might sound strange, but my mother had a scar just like that. She passed away years ago… but you look so much like her.”

Michelle’s face softened, and she sat down on the chair next to Caleb. “Caleb, there’s something I need to tell you. I didn’t move to this town just two weeks ago. I’ve been here for a while, watching over you from a distance.”

Caleb’s heart pounded in his chest. “What do you mean? Who are you?”
“I’m your aunt, Caleb. Your mother had a twin sister. We were separated at birth, and I grew up in a different town. When I heard about your mother’s passing, I tried to reach out, but I couldn’t find you. I decided to move here to be closer to you, to see if you needed any help.”
Caleb’s eyes filled with tears. “Why didn’t my mother ever tell me about you?”

“She thought it was for the best,” Michelle said softly. “Our family had a lot of issues, and she wanted to protect you from all that. But when I saw you in need, I couldn’t stay away.”

Caleb stood up and embraced Michelle, feeling a strange mix of emotions. “Thank you for coming into my life,” he whispered. “I can’t believe I have an aunt I never knew about.”

Michelle hugged him back tightly. “You’re not alone, Caleb. I’m here for you, just like your mother would have been.”

From that day on, Caleb and Michelle built a strong bond. She became a part of his life, helping him through tough times and sharing stories about his mother that he had never heard before. Caleb was grateful for this unexpected twist of fate, and he knew that his mother’s love lived on through Michelle.
