Good neighbors can make life better—they’re often the ones we see most and who offer help when needed. But not everyone is so lucky. Here are stories from people whose lives got harder because of their neighbors.
The Story:
My 7-year-old son’s dog went missing. Then, one day, I saw my neighbor’s kid walking the dog. He said they found it on the street. I argued with his dad, who didn’t believe it was our dog. Yesterday, his mom asked to speak with me alone. I felt a chill when she said, “You’ve been played. Your wife asked us to take the dog!”
I couldn’t believe it—my wife wasn’t happy when we got the dog, but she grew to love it. She would never do something like that. When I told her what the neighbor said, she was furious and swore it wasn’t true. I love my wife and believe her, but I can’t shake the doubt my neighbor’s words put in my mind.
