Even a perfect romance can hide a painful betrayal. Here’s how one woman faced heartbreak, deception, and an unexpected pregnancy.
She shared her story:
“I don’t know how to start this. My fiancé told me he’d been cheating on me for over a year, even though we’ve been together for 7 years.
He said he didn’t want to be together anymore. This broke my heart, especially since we were high school sweethearts. His girlfriend was with him when he told me, which made it worse since he didn’t even have the decency to talk to me alone. He brought her into our home, the one we bought together.
Anyway, I planned to tell him I was pregnant on his birthday, which was coming up soon. He always wanted a big family with at least 5 kids. I wasn’t as excited about kids, but I didn’t mind them.
When he told me we were over, I knew I didn’t want the baby. I didn’t want to co-parent or be a single mom. I have a good-paying job, and maybe it’s selfish, but I didn’t care.
I told him I was pregnant when he ended things. He looked a little upset, like he regretted it. He said he was fine with split custody, and I didn’t respond.
A few days later, I got an abortion. I felt I needed to tell him so he wouldn’t have false hope, since I didn’t want to see or talk to him ever again. When I texted him, he called me, asking, “Why would you do that?” He said I knew he wanted kids and should have told him before deciding.
I feel selfish for what I did, but I knew having the baby would make me unhappy. I barely like kids, and having one with the man who broke my heart didn’t help. I feel like a jerk. He’s the only one who knows about the abortion, not the pregnancy.
