In the 6th grade, there was a kid in another class who was a real genius. I don’t mean just really smart, like getting 100s without doing homework. I mean the kind of smart that had him doing advanced calculus with a college professor after school.
One day, the entire school’s computer system crashed. Three hours later, three men in FBI jackets and our local police chief came and took him out of the building. Nobody told us anything, and the parents were also left in the dark. It never made the news. Then, the boy’s parents suddenly vanished without a trace.
Years later, we still have no idea what happened. Every teacher I’ve asked says they know nothing. I haven’t seen the kid since, and there’s no record of him going to another school or getting into trouble.
