Relationships between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law can be tricky. Sometimes, a mother welcomes her son’s partner at first but gets unexpected surprises later. Other times, they don’t get along at first but may grow closer over time. Let’s see what mothers-in-law have shared recently.
The Story:
My son calls and happily says he and his fiancée will visit us in the evening. He adds, “Hey Mom, just a heads-up, try to stay calm,” and then ends the call. I’m not good at hiding my feelings, but I didn’t really understand his warning.
Later, I open the door and see my son nervously holding the arm of a girl with a very big belly. What am I supposed to do? I try to adjust to this new reality and look for something positive, but my future daughter-in-law doesn’t make it easy.
When I politely ask about their plans for living and money, she says, “We’re giving you a grandson, so we expect your full support.” Can you believe it?
