It might seem like all mothers-in-law are similar, but they’re just regular women who can be very different. Some become close friends with their daughters-in-law, others stay distant, and some know how to push your buttons.
The Story:
I had a birthday party. My husband gave me a nice set of matching earrings and a necklace. When his mom saw it, she started complaining that I was spoiled, but surprisingly, my father-in-law told her to stop. A few days later, I went on Instagram and was shocked. My mother-in-law posted a picture of herself wearing my jewelry with a caption thanking my husband for the early birthday gift. At home, my husband and I checked the security camera and saw her using her key to enter our house (which I now regret giving her), and she left with the box in her hand. My sister-in-law and other family members were calling her out in the comments for stealing. My husband tried texting and calling her to give the jewelry back, but she refused, saying it was her right to take them because her son wasn’t spending his money wisely, and I didn’t appreciate the gift.
