Engagement Stories That Didn’t Go as Expected

Marriage proposals are often like unique movie scenes with unexpected endings. Sometimes you get a happy “yes,” but other times it’s a sudden “no” in front of many people. Sometimes, random people witnessing the event become part of the story.

Here are the Story:

I saw a guy propose to a girl, but she said no and walked away. He looked really sad and then came up to me and gave me the ring, saying he didn’t want it anymore. So I took the ring and started to leave. About 5 minutes later, he caught up with me and said, “I’m sorry, I changed my mind. Can I have the ring back, please?”

I decided to propose to my partner. At the restaurant, I asked them to hide the engagement ring inside the cake. When she found the ring in the dessert, she took it out and went to the hostess, thinking the chef had lost it. I stopped her, and she started yelling at me, saying it was dangerous and she could choke on it. So much for romance…

I saw a couple in a jewelry store while my wife and I were looking around. The guy asked to see a ring, got down on one knee, and proposed. The girl was thrilled and said, “Yes, yes, yes!” But then he handed the ring back to the employee and tried to leave. He had borrowed the ring and couldn’t afford to buy one. He tried to explain to her, but she slapped him so hard that it hurt me too, and she started screaming about how her mother was right. I don’t know if they stayed together, but it was tough to watch.

I didn’t see it myself, but my best friend just got engaged. When he proposed, they were at a small French deli. She had a big bite of pie in her mouth when she saw him on one knee. She was so shocked that she spit the pie everywhere—on herself, him, and the place. She just nodded in response. It was typical of her to react that way, so it’s all good, but I don’t think he was expecting pie in his face.

My boyfriend proposed to me. Guess where? Not in a café, park, or concert, but in a hut! We were at home on the weekend with nothing to do, so we built a big hut in the living room with pillows, blankets, and chairs. We sat in it, sharing funny childhood stories, and then he got down on one knee and took out a ring. At first, I couldn’t believe it, but then I realized it was real.

I worked as a hostess in a beautiful restaurant right on the beach. We often had proposals, and the boyfriend would usually let us know in advance to do something special like a special table or put the ring in the champagne glass. One evening, a couple came in, and we all knew he was going to propose. During dessert, he took out the ring and asked her to marry him. The restaurant was very crowded, and everyone was watching. She started crying and said no. Then she got up and left him alone, looking heartbroken in front of about 150 people.
