Large Cyst: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

A large cyst is a sac-like structure filled with fluid, air, or other substances, which can
form in various parts of the body. Cysts are generally non-cancerous, but when they
grow large, they may cause discomfort, pain, or other health issues depending on
their location and size.

Causes:

Cysts can develop due to several factors, such as:
– Blockage of ducts or glands: This can lead to the accumulation of fluid.

– Infections or inflammations: Certain infections can result in the formation of cysts.

– Genetic conditions: Some cysts are inherited, like those associated with polycystic
kidney disease.

– Injuries: Trauma to the area can sometimes lead to cyst formation.

– Tumors: Some cysts are associated with benign or malignant growths.

Symptoms:
Depending on where the cyst forms, symptoms may vary:
– Visible lump: A large cyst may cause a noticeable bump or swelling.
– Pain or discomfort: This is common, especially if the cyst is pressing on nearby
organs, nerves, or tissues.
– Functional impairment: In cases where a cyst grows near joints or organs, it might
impair movement or function.

– Infection: If a cyst becomes infected, it can lead to redness, warmth, and
tenderness.
