In the movie Wall Street, a character once said, “Losing money after having it can feel much worse than never having it at all.” People who aren’t used to managing money often struggle when they have to cut back.
The Story:
My classmate married a millionaire. She traveled the world, always wearing expensive jewelry. But she wasn’t happy with Venice or impressed by Paris. Five years later, I saw her at a regular resort, and she looked so different that I didn’t recognize her.
She no longer had the confidence she once did. It turned out there was a millionaire, but no marriage. When the love ended, he left her. Now she regrets being so snobby and not enjoying her travels and adventures more.
