When we get married, we expect our spouse to be with us through all times in our lives. But if a spouse only shares happy moments and leaves us in tough times, it’s hard to respect that. Today’s story is about a man who left his wife during her hardest times. But the woman turned her pain into strength, and now the man is desperate and looking for advice.
Mike and Ava were meant for each other.
Mike, 37, wrote an emotional letter to us, sharing his story and asking for opinions and advice. He knows people might judge him for what he did. He wants to show that wedding vows have deep meaning, which he didn’t understand at first.
Mike admits he now regrets his actions. He feels life is unfair to him and wants things to go back to how they were.
He starts his letter, “My wife Ava was always slender and beautiful. When we met, I thought I’d never be good enough for her. Many men admired her, but she chose me. I treated her like a trophy and loved her mainly for her looks. I didn’t try to understand her personality or mind, and now I regret it.”
“When we started dating and got married, my life was perfect. I loved my wife deeply and thought that would never change. But it did.”
Mike continues, “Ava and I wanted kids more than anything. We knew having a baby would mean making sacrifices, and we were ready for that.
But I wasn’t ready for one thing – how much Ava changed after our baby son was born.
Her pregnancy was a happy time for us. Ava was glowing, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her.”
“However, after our son was born, things got bad. Ava wasn’t the same person I loved. She gained a lot of weight, her body changed, and she had skin problems.
Her behavior changed too. She was always irritated and crying over small things like an unwashed mug or neighbors not saying hello.
Despite my efforts to help with the baby, Ava was always angry. I found her unattractive and moved to another room to avoid sleeping with her.
Now I see how wrong I was, but at the time, I was blind.”
“One day, Ava asked for a divorce. I was relieved because I wanted it too. We divorced civilly, and she didn’t even cry.”
“After the divorce, I moved to another country for work. I lived there for over three years. Ava sent me photos of our son, and I visited once or twice, but I didn’t see them often. Then I moved back to the country.
When I arrived, I went to Ava’s house. She opened the door, and I froze – she was beautiful and happy again.
I complimented her, but she didn’t react. I took our son for a walk, and when I returned, I saw photos of Ava with another man. She said he was her fiancé. The photos showed him holding her, kissing her, and looking at her with love, even when she wasn’t in her best shape.
She said her fiancé always told her she was the most beautiful woman in the world, loving her body and every stretch mark. He found her beautiful even with skin problems.
I feel like a fool now. I fell in love with Ava again – not the slim and beautiful Ava, but the happy woman in the photos with another man.
I want my wife back so badly and regret every moment of being such a fool. But Ava is happy with another man and says I’m only ‘the father of her child.’ I’m desperate and don’t know what to do to win her back.”
