A woman fell in love with a married man and believed their love was strong enough to overcome any obstacle, even if it meant hurting his family. Now, she’s dealing with the fallout of her decisions and regrets ever getting involved in the first place.
The woman felt confident that she was making all the correct decisions.
A woman, 38 years old, wrote us a heartfelt letter expressing her emotions. She started by saying, “I’m stuck in a situation where I feel lost. My life has taken an unexpected turn, and I wasn’t prepared for the crash of my dreams. It’s like something out of a novel, so I apologize for the lengthy letter, but I need to get this off my chest.”
She revealed that she had a relationship with her partner, aged 54, that didn’t start on fairgrounds. “My partner and I met six years ago at a team-building event organized by our companies. He was married at the time and had two children, aged 10 and 15. I didn’t have a family or kids, nor was I in a relationship then.”
At first, they were close friends, but then romantic feelings developed. She said, “He confided in me about his unhappy marriage, assuring me that he planned to leave his wife once their kids were a bit older.”
She fell deeply in love with him and was willing to wait for him to end his marriage. “After two years of being together, our affair was discovered, and things became incredibly difficult for a while,” she added.
Following the breakup, things were progressing steadily.
In her letter, the woman explained that after their secret relationship was discovered, they decided to move in together and start fresh as a couple.
“We were ready to start our own family,” she wrote. “His wife was very upset, but she chose not to tell the kids about their dad’s affair. Out of respect for his family, we kept our relationship quiet for about a year.”
She continued, “It wasn’t until a year later that my partner introduced me to his children. At first, it was hard for them to accept their dad being with someone new, but eventually, we all got along. We bought a house together and started planning our wedding. The kids came to see us often, and everything seemed to be going perfectly. At least, that’s what I thought.”
The man’s former spouse was going through a lot.
In her letter, the woman talked about how hard it was for her fiancé’s ex-wife after they split up. “My fiancé’s ex-wife went through a tough time after he left,” she said. “She stayed at home with the kids and worked part-time. She had health problems and gained weight. She felt really sad and lonely.”
“She kept contacting my fiancé, calling him, sending long emails, and texts, asking for another chance to save their family,” the woman explained. “It was sad to see. My fiancé felt bad, but he always stayed loyal to our relationship. He told me he chose me and felt sorry for hurting her and the kids. He believed in moving forward, not looking back.”
Then, the woman mentioned a surprising change in her fiancé’s ex-wife’s behavior. “Suddenly, she stopped contacting him directly,” the woman said. “Instead, she asked him to use a parenting app to talk to her. His oldest son told us that whenever he went to see his younger brother, their mom wasn’t there. It was a relief for me.”
“Then, we found out something unexpected,” the woman continued. “My fiancé’s youngest son talked about someone called ‘Uncle P’ in conversations. It turned out to be one of my fiancé’s best friends who stopped talking to him after our affair was revealed. They hadn’t spoken since. Well, it seemed ‘Uncle P’ and my fiancé’s ex-wife were now dating.”
“At the same time, I found out I was pregnant,” the woman added. “My fiancé started acting differently. He seemed stressed from work, especially after changing jobs. He started coming home late and was always on his phone. It was a big change from how he used to be.
The situation was becoming extremely dangerous.
In her sincere story, the woman shared a troubling event that happened just two months ago. “My partner called me from the police station, asking me to pick him up,” she said. “He had gone to his ex-wife’s house late at night and ended up getting into a fight with his old friend. He even accused his ex-wife of cheating with his once-best friend.”
“He had a total breakdown,” the woman said, sounding worried. “It was completely out of character for him. He’s always been so calm, but suddenly, he was acting like a different person. He couldn’t stop thinking about his ex-wife, always checking her social media and asking his kids and family about where she was.”
Even though her partner agreed to get therapy and was getting help, the woman admitted that their relationship was still strained, even after their child was born.
“I feel like he’s not fully committed to our relationship anymore, and I’m thinking about leaving,” she said. She also admitted that it wasn’t an easy decision, saying, “I still care about him. I hoped things would get better with time, and we could be a happy family. But now he’s so distant, not showing any concern for me or our child.”
It took her a while to realize, but she knew things couldn’t go on like this, for her own well-being and for the sake of her child. “It’s painful, but I need to leave and focus on myself. I’ll fight for custody of my child, and I’ll do everything to make sure we don’t end up in the same situation with my husband’s ex-wife.”
